The GGU School of Law Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) is a non-profit, student-run organization that assists law students pursuing careers in public interest law. Students are thus able to pursue non-paid internships in the public and non-profit sectors. PILF accomplishes its work by raising funds through its signature event, the PILF Auction held each spring.

The PILF Auction will be held March 30, 2012 from 5-9pm at 111 Minna Gallery. The Auction is one of the Law School’s biggest events of the year and is attended by alumni, faculty, students, community supporters, and members of the public. Last year’s auction raised over $22,000, which provided summer funding for 11 GGU law students.

There are three ways you can help:

First, you can donate an auction item. The most successful auctions have been the ones with a variety of items – from gift certificates, event tickets, jewelry and vacation home stays, to lunches and dog walking. To have a donation form sent to you please email ggu.pilf@gmail.com.

Second, you can make a monetary donation. This is the most direct way to contribute to a grant. Donations can be made online at:https://alumni.ggu.edu/SSLPage.aspx?pid=270 or by visiting our Facebook page titled GGU PILF and clicking on the donation link.

Third, you can buy an event ticket to the auction and raffle ticket (Grand Prize – an Apple iPad). Auction tickets are $12 for students and $20 for non-students. You may purchase event and raffle tickets online at

Please feel free to contact us by email at ggu.pilf@gmail.com.
We welcome the chance to hear any new ideas and connect with our supporters!

About The Event Host

Golden Gate University School of Law is consistently ranked one of the best public interest law schools in the country.  Last year, the National Jurist found that Golden Gate was one of the six best in California.

Golden Gate owes this reputation to several factors.  First, Golden Gate’s curriculum—including many first-year offerings—extends to every area of public interest law.  Second, Golden Gate supports a formidable externship program (ranked third in the nation in a 2010 study by Professor James Backman of Brigham Young University).  Most Golden Gate students participate in this program and obtain hands-on public interest law-related experience.  Third, many of Golden Gate’s faculty are renowned public interest leaders.  Likewise, Golden Gate’s clinics and centers all focus on public interest issues.  Fourth, Golden Gate is home to many student organizations that create a community deeply committed to public service.  Finally, Golden Gate offers its students many public interest curricular specializations.

Each year, a comparatively large percentage of Golden Gate graduates directly enter the public and nonprofit sectors.  It is thus no surprise that many of the region’s public interest leaders are graduates of Golden Gate.
