About Laura Akers
Laura Akers is a highly respected trial attorney, accomplished in both felony and misdemeanor jury trial work. She graduated from Western State University College of Law in 1984, was a Note Author for Law Review and won Best Speaker in the Benton Moot Court competition.
After graduation and admission to the bar, Ms. Akers was hired as a Deputy District Attorney for San Diego County. For 12 years, she handled gang, rape, domestic violence and high profile homicide trials, gaining invaluable time trying cases before juries. She trained law enforcement in Domestic Violence procedures and was consultant to the Attorney General of the State of Georgia on domestic violence issues. One of Ms. Akers' rape prosecutions established new California Supreme Court law.
Since starting her own practice, Ms. Akers has successfully handled general civil litigation for both plaintiff and defense clients and criminal defense. She is a strong advocate and tough negotiator, the type of attorney you want in your corner- one who cares.
